When to call a gas fitter

A new cooktop sitting in its box with nothing to connect it to. A rental that needs its gas work certified. A faint gas smell you keep second-guessing. Gas isn't a have-a-crack-at-it trade: in Queensland this work legally requires a licensed gas fitter, and the paperwork matters as much as the pipework.

Gas work we're licensed for

  • New gas line installations for homes and businesses
  • Gas appliance connections and commissioning: cooktops, ovens, heaters
  • Gas hot water system installations and repairs
  • Gas leak detection and repairs
  • Gas compliance certificates and testing
  • LPG and natural gas installations

Every job is completed to Australian safety standards and finished with the compliance certificate that proves it.

Mains gas in town, bottles out of it

Toowoomba homes on natural gas, and rural properties running LPG bottles, get the same licensed work. We also handle gas fitting for business clients: fit-outs, appliance swaps and compliance testing.

How gas jobs run

  1. Talk through the job.

What's being installed or what's playing up, and what fuel you're on.

  2. Quote before work.

Clear price first, including the certification.

  3. Install, test, certify.

The work gets done to code, leak-tested, and you keep the gas compliance certificate.

How gas fitting is priced

Gas work is quoted before it starts, like everything we do. Appliance connections are usually quick; new lines depend on the run and the access. The hourly rate is in the FAQ below, and it never applies without you seeing a quote first.

Gas fitting questions

What should I do if I smell gas?

Turn the gas off at the meter or bottle, open windows and doors, and don't operate switches or flames. Then call Luke on 0417 792 006 and we'll treat it as a priority.

How much does gas fitting cost per hour?

Gas fitting work is $150+GST per hour, and we'll always give you a clear quote before any work starts so the rate never becomes a surprise.

Do you work on both LPG and natural gas?

Yes. Town homes on mains natural gas and rural properties on LPG bottles both get the same licensed installation, testing and certification.

What is a gas compliance certificate?

It's the document certifying the gas work on your property was done by a licensed gas fitter to the required standard. You get one with the work; insurers, landlords and buyers ask for them.

Can you install my new gas cooktop or oven?

Yes. We connect and commission gas appliances, test for leaks, and certify the installation before we leave.
